There's an article in today's times about problems with certain Guidant defibrillators that resulted in the death of a young man with HCM... http://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/24/business/24heart.html. It also mentions the problem with some Medtronic models and battery life. I wonder if anyone else has a St. Jude's ICD and if there are any known problems with any of their models. Also, how would one find out if there were a problem with their ICD, do they contact you or is there some resource online to look at?

Lisa posted the whole story in a thread http://forum.4hcm.org/viewtopic.php?...ghlight=guidan
the story lists the model number for the Guidant and maybe the Medtronic, too.
you can always call your ICD manufacturer with questions.
The story points out that the manu's don't always release info. Your best protection is regular device checkups.
