It has been three years today that I got my ICD. It has gone by fast. I go in on the 21st to talk to the EP about replacing my ICD. I have one that is in the recall. It has zapped me 2 time in the three years that I have had it.

I may be travling out of the country with my husband in the next year. So I think I will as to get my ICD replaced insted of checking the battery each day. I would hate to have something happen if I was out of the country. Do you think I am being silly about it? I am just a bit of a chicken and would be worryed all the time. Heck I am worryed all the time now and I have an appointment in 2 weeks.

Thanks for any thoughts you may have on this.

You aren't being silly, you're being cautious. I think it's a great idea to see about getting it replaced before you travel.

I agree. If it has zapped you twice, you need it. It would be awful to worry all the time when, if it is replaced, you won't have to even think about it.

I had mine replaced already even though I had never been zapped because I am paced a fair amount, and I didn't want for the ICD to die when I was travelling, or alone with my 3 year old son at Target or somewhere. If I were you I would have it replaced as soon as possible.
