    Article on faulty batteries in Medtronic Devices

    I got this article from another list I'm on. I have to call Medtronic in the morning to see if my device is one of the ones w/ faulty battery. I would say so, since out of the blue my battery is dying. I'm worried because in this article it says the battery can completely deplete in a matter of days! I'm wondering if this is causing my dizziness and fatigue. I will let you know what they say in the morning at Medtronic. Here's the shortcut to the article.

    Heather, 43, non-obstructive HCM, dx'd at age 14, AICD implanted 11-02, PVAI ablation done for a-fib and a-flutter 5-2010. 2nd PVAI done for a-flutter and a-tach 3-2014. 3rd PVAI for a-flutter June 2015, dr forgot to reset ICD settings and I went into vt and almost died, July 2015, July 2015-started tx work up, October 2015, put on list in Dallas and tx'd on November 14, 2015.

    The only thing I've been thinking of is that my device is a GEM III 7276 and the one they're talking about is a Marquis line. Are these two different models? Maybe some of the GEM's are having problems too. I don't know. I'm just rambling now.......

        The GEM's are not having any problems. This is a problem that is specific to the Marquis line and only for a specific manufacturing period up through 2003.

        lost: 5 family members to HCM (SCD, Stroke, CHF)
        Others diagnosed living with HCM (or gene +) include - daughter, niece, nephew, cousin, sister and many many friends!
        Therapy - ICD (implanted 97, 01, 04 and 11, medication
        Currently not obstructed
        Complications - unnecessary pacemaker and stroke (unrelated to each other)
