OK gang,
how many have ddd pacing and are you really satisfied with your lifestyle?
I have been paced using an ICD (Guidant) for +61/2 years now. On echo's my mitral regurg has been reduced from a 2+ to a trace, which is good. I am on verapimil 240/day/ toprol 50mg/day, and allegra. My gradient at rest is about 15 and provokes to about 65. I continue to be symptomatic with chest pain both at exertion and rest , exercise tolerance is terrible. I train dogs for my hobby(Labs) and have trouble walking 150 yards and hills are brutal. Last week a 72 year old retiree made me stop and was going to pick me up in his truck, he carried my load and I'm only 50. My ep doesn't think a myectomy would benifit me much because my gradients are just not that high. I had a thalium study which showed damage to the heart muscle a year ago, but a cath showed no CAD. My fear is that if I do insist on a myectomy and quit the ddd pacing I won't feel any better, but this is miseable and I don't know if I am just complaining. Nights are problems now also. Any comments. Lisa and I have talked some in the past.
Also, jsut to let people know, muy son continues to do ok. Stayed active through the summer, no zaps, no more lhospital visits. Praise the Lord.
Thanks,
Art Geddes
