    went to the Ep. on Fri. an they told me that my icd 44 times at 30 joules ( 736 volts ) and 30 times at 15 joules what he called defibrillator pacing ( I thought some where harder hits than others ) they reset for 182 bpm to 194 bpm he told me to get a pulse monitor for my wrist and put it on any time I am doing any thing that mite cause my hart rate to go up sleeping is still a problem the meds. work sometimes but phantom shocks are still very bad thanks for all the support out there this site has been a great help

    Make sure you read my post to you on your first post about your ICD firing. Keep your head up and know that it is okay to be scared and in time you and I both will get a litttle less jittery about this device.

      YOU can make a difference - all you have to do is try!

      Dx age 12 current age 46 and counting!
      lost: 5 family members to HCM (SCD, Stroke, CHF)
      Others diagnosed living with HCM (or gene +) include - daughter, niece, nephew, cousin, sister and many many friends!
      Therapy - ICD (implanted 97, 01, 04 and 11, medication
      Currently not obstructed
      Complications - unnecessary pacemaker and stroke (unrelated to each other)

        You have had a tough time of it Clint. We will have to keep you square in our minds whenever we think something is more then we can deal with. You my friend have raised the bar. Best Wishes .

          Glad to hear that you're ok.


          Husband has HCM.
          3 kids - ages 23, 21, & 19. All presently clear of HCM.

            Clint, please read my answer to your first posting. The emergency room gave me a magnet made by the ICD manufacturers to place on my son in case his went off inappropriately. Maybe this is something you should check into.
