I'm so excited! I had a Guidant ICD put in Wednesday night and I am feeling great - no pain - just trying to remember not to lift my arm. I can drive on Monday so will be back to work. Just came back from the movies. Both my husband and I feel so relieved to have this done. It's been an eight week roller coaster for us with finding out it was probably needed until Wed. when it finally happened. Speaking of roller coasters, when I went on the Guidant website, there is a page of Sources of Electromagnetic Interference for ICDs, and roller coasters were under the Safe list. I was feeling sorry for myself last week when I did research on past posts on amusement rides and it seemed as if it was on the no list. I imagined myself as the one on the bench holding jackets keeping track of everyone. We live fairly close to Disneyland, Knottsberry Farm, Legoland and Sea World and I enjoy the rides. It's a great day for us to have this behind us and to look forward to a future without the worry.

      Dear Nancy,
It’s not the ride so much as it is the heavy magnets some of them use to keep the cars on the track. It would be a simple matter to contact the amusement park on the internet and find out which rides use heavy magnets. Avoid those and enjoy the rest when you go there. It’s as simple as that.

Of course you don’t want to have your body thrown all over the place either, but I guess you’d avoid those rides on your own.
