    ICD settings

    I'm just curious as to what everyone else's settings are so I can get an idea. My settings seem extremly high.

    My ICD is set to start recording and firing at 220! I've read that others are around 165 or so. I've also heard that others experience v-tach around those numbers too. With these ongoing episodes of being tachy at 130-145 and last night hitting above 150 I just can't help but wonder if I am having some sort of arrythmia. When I feel my own pulse it is not always steady. It will beat really hard and fast then stop for a second and go back.

    I've got a call in to Dr. Maron to see if he can shed some light on this.

      My husband had his ICD interrogated today and it is set to shock at 200 bpm.

      3 kids - ages 23, 21, & 19. All presently clear of HCM.

        My device is also set to shock me at 200 bpm.

        Mongo - It may be that your device is set a bit too low, and that your shock the other day was innappropriate. Maybe you should have your setting adjusted upward.

        Mary - I have my device programmed to "monitor only" arrythmias over 150 but less than 200 where my ICD will treat them. Maybe you could have yours set this way so you will have some record of what episodes you are having, even if they don't need treatment.

          Mine is set to monitor at 145, fire 1 at 165, fire 2 at 185. On the low side it will begin to pace at 50 bpm.

            Your settings are also going to vary based upon your condition and age. My husband is 35 and shows no symptoms, so they set his at 200.

              These are right from my printout, which I just got Tuesday:

              Paces at 40 bpm, the voltage was just upped a bit.
              Intitial Detection: 170 bpm
              VF Zone: 185 bpm
              A-Tachy Response: 170 bpm
