  • another ICD implant question

    I saw my doc today and he said that instead of putting it under the skin they are putting it under the muscle for cosmetic reasons. has anyone else had this done and will it be any different on my part?? sorry for all these questions im just kinda nervous...

    You can use the search function to find previous posts in case you don't get an answer right away. If you don't want it done that way, you don't have to have it.

    Be comfortable with every step of the way (nervious, sure), but bottom line is that you need to be ok with what they do and how they do it so ask questions till you get all the answers you need.

      I posted this to you in your last string. Mine is under the muscle. It is much better. It doesn't show at all, and is protected more than if it was just under the skin.

        Janelle---I think you will be pleased with the sub-pec implant. I forget where you are having it done; hope it is a place where they do a lot and have done a number of the sub-pec implants. The implant will be better protected and you won't have a big lump to explain to those all-important "guys." Also you may have less trouble with a bra irritating the implant. It may take a while longer to heal and get comfortable but we are talking a week or so longer which is not much time when you think about the long-term benefits of having it in the muscle.
