I wish I had personal experience to advise you from, but I didn't get my ICD implanted until my son was 1 year old. I would assume, however, that you would have the same issues as a regular person with HCM. You would definitely want to plan your pregnancy in advance and consult both your regular cardiologist and your EP doc ahead of time. You should also be followed by a perinatologist - a high risk pregnancy doctor during your pregnancy. You might have to deliver by C-section as they wouldn't want your heartrate to get too high in delivery, but as long as all your doctors are involved and you plan well in advance, you should be fine.
Good luck. By the way, as a mother of a two year old, I have to tell you that the pregnancy is the easy part...its the next part that is hard!
Although we have no immediate plans to have kids at any time, at some point my husband and I would like to have some. Did having a ICD cause any problems during pregnancy for any one? Any extra info on this topic would be great! Thanks.
