  • ICD Implant Discomfort

I had an ICD implanted 4 weeks ago. I am fairly thin with very sensitive skin. The entire area is hyper sensitive, so much so that I have to wear a strapless bra and most clothes are uncomfortable. My mobility is increasing but not all there. Sleeping on my left side is problematic. Driving is difficult because the seatbelt is painful, even with a shearling cover. The nurse practioner who checked the device in the EP practice seems to have never heard of such a reaction.

Has anyone had a similar reaction? How long does it take to go away? My life is just on hold and I’m starting to question if I will ever get it back.

I experienced this as well. It did get better but it hasn't gone away. I still have discomfort with bra straps and swimsuit straps. I get this horrible pain in my collar bone when I sleep on my left side. Seatbelts still bother me but not as bad. I also get rashes on my neck and arm on the left side that started after getting the implant. I have also noticed that I don't have the energy I did before it. I feel like it has been worse for me than better but no one will listen to me and tell me its in my head. You are not alone.
