www.medicalert.org
Takes about 5-10 minutes to set everything up. $35.00 to join and with that you get a standard silver braclet or necklace. You can upgrade to something more jewelry like for an additional charge.
You can enter your condition(s), current medications, and up to 5 contacts (personal and/or Physicans)

Re: Medic Alerts
medicalert.org is great because paramedics can call them collect from anywhere in the world (the number is on your tag) and they will give them all your medical info and call your emergency contacts (should you so desire). The cheapest bracelet is 35 bucks but it is well worth it.

Re: Medic Alerts
Reinhard,
Most people suggest going with the Medic Alert company. THey keep records on file at their office. When an EMT reads your bracelet they will call Medic Alert and will get the low down on your condition, what meds you take, who your doctor is, etc. Hope this helps.

Re: Medic Alerts
Cappy
I've been considering get one myself. Which company did sign up with? Medic alert? There are a few companies out there. What kind of info do you supply them? Is there any limit? I've got quiet a few records that I have on file.
Additionally, since my ekg is abnormal, I've been researching having an ekg put on a card ( similar To a credit card ) that you can carry with you. A few months ago, I had to call 911. When the emt's hooked me up they though I was having a coronary. Fortunatly I had a copy of my most recent ekg so that they could rule that out. When I got to the ER, I handed them the entire pouch of my records. Based on what I supplied them, they were able to diagnose me very quickly and subsequently complimented me on my record keeping.
Recently, I started scanning my records and putting them on disk that I carry in my breifcase. Beats carrying a pouch of papers along.

Re: Medic Alerts
I have one for my ICD and a few other things also. We had a string on this a little while ago. Try searching "Shrinky Dinks!"

Medic Alerts
Who has them?
It was suggested to get one after I got my ICD. Just got it a few days ago. Interesting setup they have there. The Medic Alert people have all the information on my ICD, my conditions, and my current medication.
As a retired EMT, I think they are worthwhile getting one. I know my family feels better now that I have one.Tags: None
