Well how about this..... If our Goverment wants to take bets on when a terrorist will attack maybe LISA could take bets on who's ICD is going to shock them next.....Tom

    Reenie,

I waited it out. I knew I was headed to CCF for a check-up soon so I wrote the date and time and symptoms down in my "list of things to ask/tell Dr. Lever." And, yes, he is adjusting my meds dosage so that this doesn't happen again!

Yes ... it would be possible to add a spell check feature to this board. Let me work on that and get back to you.

My husband was never shocked by his ICD, but the epsode that finally convinced the doctor to implant happened while he was sitting--he had toursades de pointes--literally almost a flatline--caught on a King of Hearts monitor--but he said he only felt slightly faint--nothing out of the ordinary for him--so, I don't think there is a direct correlation to activity. Just a thought,

Amazing... the technology we have! I am glad you have your device... and the fact that is is on the ready if you need it is good to know... it is also good to know that you have been able to "correct" these problem on your "own" and that the device did not need to shock you.
You may wish to discuss your meds with your doctor...they may be able to change the meds to stop this rythm from happening.

Tom, I'm sorry but I don't have any experience for you. My husband has had his ICD for 3 years and it has never recorded anything yet. Hopefully someone else can give you their experience. As far as when it might have to give you a shock, I don't know if there is a correlation between activity or not. I think the most I've heard of zapping it has happened at rest or while asleep. Anyone??

Elizabeth, did you go to the doctor right away or did you just wait it out?

    Hi Tom,

I have had my ICD since September, 2002, and it has never zapped me, but it has considered therapy once. I remember the episode because I thought I was going to faint, but didn't. Thank heaven these things are so smart! Anyone else?

I have had my ICD since Oct 2003 and thankfully have not been Zapped yet. It has "charged" 6 times getting ready to send the shock but the "episode" stoped on its own and the ICD "backed off". I'm sure a lot of other people have had the same thing but I would like to know how common is this??? and what are the chances of being so lucky a seventh time??
I know the last 2 times it "charged" I was just resting at that time of the evening (8:30 or so). I would have thought it would has done this at a time when I was exercising or really stressed about somthing like traffic.
P.S. Is there a way to do a spell check on these posts? I sure could use that!!!...............Tom [/i][/b]
