I will leave out names here and allow the family to share details when and if they wish...
BUT....
I was notified yesterday that one of our members, a child, had his ICD go off while at school. It appears that he was in a tachy rythm at about 220 beats and the device fired restoring normal sinus rythm.
What is amazing about this little guy is that he was in gym class while this happened and simply went about the rest of his day. When his parents picked him up after school they were told his device went off.
This young man is tough as nails!
It looks like if the ICD was not there this posting would not have been a happy one.
This really made my day for many reasons!
1. This young man has a chance of a meaningful future!
2. He was so cool about the entire event!
3. His parents found the HCMA 3 years ago and we were able to help them find quality care (which is why he had the ICD implanted)
4. The HCMA WORKS!
So big hugs to my little pal and best wishes to his family!

I holler out . But Lisa you are right if it wasnt there instead of growing tomatoes I would be growing "daisies"!! This is probably not the place for my humor ,but hey ya gotta laugh or it will drive ya nuts.(mine has fired 7 times since 9/25/2002) But I think we have gotten things back under control for now!!
