I'm solely paced (the lone 14%). I had an AV node ablation, which'll do it.

It is working fine for me. If you have not yet taken the poll, make sure you do that first. If you are not interested in taking the poll but want to see the results, click View Results below the poll. Here is what I see when I do that:
          Thanks, Tim

Re: I have a pacer because...

I had a myomectomy at Mayo in 1996 and the electrical functions (I think from the AV node) were affected. The Pacer only functions when needed. I have been fine since the surgery. I know this is a relatively uncommon condition. so I'm glad to have found this site. The sharing of information is fascinating.

Re: I have a pacer because...

How do you take the poll? I see no way to answer questions. I have a dual chamber pacer becuase of heart block caused during surgery, although I know have sinus rythem under the pacer now.

Re: I have a pacer because...

                  Hi Ralph,
I think I answered the question as heart block due to ablation and then added the comment. I also have the dual chamber pacer that was implanted after the surgical procedure because of missing beats,
                  Hope this helps,
                  Betsy

Re: I have a pacer because...

Ralph, I'm pretty sure your written ans is your vote, then that is figured into the percentage from the office. Lisa will clear it up tomorrow if I'm mistaken. Maybe vote wasn't the best word to use. We're all learning together, and I may learn tomorrow that I was completely wrong on this! Linda

I have a pacer because it's part of my ICD. I was told at my last ICD check that it only paces 1% of the time, so I guess that's a good thing.

My father has a pacer because he passed out. When I was in the hospital for my ICD, I was in with an old guy who was having his pacer replaced with an ICD, so maybe that is a trend.
